In a post christian nordic culture, there is a need to think critically in order to scale the secular city
The calm of Gods providence is the balm the church needs in an anxious age
-
Competent.
In a highly educated, but at the same time pragmatic region of the world, we want to build competencies that will help you minister in the church with precision and purpose.
-
Practical.
True theology is always practical, but we cannot let individualistic pragmatism win the day. Our culture has watered down truth and shortened our attention spans. At Providence we want to bring students together in community and conversation to work toward a theology that is useful in the church.
-
Confessional.
In a post truth age of power play and pragmatism, we want to rise up a new generation of biblical teachers and preachers, who have the humility to point to a confession statement that is wider than and inherited outside of themselves. While avoiding the error of equating a confession with scripture, we want to call students to take a stance and identify with a confession which summarizes the scriptures teaching.
-
Experiential.
The doctrines of grace are ordained by god to weigh deep, and lift high the soul of men. We must resist training that sharpens the intellect without delighting the affections. At providence we want the mountain of gods grandeur to be experienced.
-
Communal.
Life together is becoming more and more ephemeral, and we want to counter this culture with the online learning communities, and opportunities for in person relationship—moving toward a rule of life and relationship. As costs and scaling allow, we want to offer an unplugged, playful life of socratic learning.
